ANNUAL CHURCH SPRING CLEANING: Sat., May 20th, 9:00am. We are looking for all church members to bring their pails and sponges and help clean our Church, Thrift Shop, and Church School. Here is our chance to clean out the clutter, and put a shine on our Church. The UMM will be providing a light lunch for all workers. A sign-up sheet is posted in the So. Transept.
TEEN CIRCLE CAR WASH: Sat., May 20th 11:00am-3:00pm in the parking lot behind CVS. Cars $5.00; vans $6.00. Proceeds will go to the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
REMEMBER IN PRAYER: the confirmation students that they may know Christ personally and follow Him: Scott Brown, Evan Cavallo, Shannon Malecki, Preeti Misra & Dan Pidgeon.
CONFIRMATION NEWS:
- Barbeque: Sunday, May 21st, 12:00noon at the Parsonage.
- Rehearsal & Dinner: Friday, June 2nd. Parents will plan and host dinner for the mentors and confirmands. Dinner 6:00pm, rehearsal 7:00pm, dessert following rehearsal.
- Confirmation: Sunday, June 4th. Mentors and families should arrive at church by 8:15am in order to put on robes and corsages.
YOU ARE INVITED: Church members who are interested in being At-Large members of the Administrative Council (the Church's decision-making body), which meets monthly, are invited to indicate their interest to one of the members of the Lay Leadership Committee, chaired by the Pastor.
GRADUATES: If you know of anyone in our church who is graduating from high school or above this year, please share this information with the Church Office so that we can acknowledge their achievement and pray for God's continued blessings upon them.
UMW SPRING DAY APART-QUIET DAY SERVICE
"We are so earthbound; we rarely allow our spirits to soar!!" Please join the UMW on Sat. June 3rd, for their Spring Day Apart in search of personal inner peace, (becoming quiet, listening to God and taking time out to say yes to the Spirit) at the Bayard Cutting Arboretum in Oakdale. We will be carpooling from the Church at 9:30am returning at 1:00pm. Our program will be filled with scripture readings, songs of praise and peace, with periodic quiet meditation. Luncheon will be prepared by the Hidden Oak Café on the premises. Cost of luncheon, with tax and parking fee, is $12 per person. Don't forget to bring a lawn chair.
Please make your reservations with Sue Gabrielli by 5/29 by mailing your check payable to her, with your luncheon selection. These are your choices:
- unsweetened iced tea/lemonade
- tuna on rye, lettuce and tomato
- curry chicken salad on a croissant
- turkey, lettuce, tomato on wrap
- smoked ham and swiss on rye

HEALTH KITS: We are collecting health kits to bring to the Annual Conference next month. Each kit includes six band aids, plus one of the following: hand towel, washcloth, comb, metal nail file or nail clipper with file, bar of soap (bath size in wrapper), toothbrush (in original packaging) and tube of toothpaste (4-7 ounces).
OF MEN & MOTORCYCLES - PART II: The "blessing of the riders" is rescheduled to Sunday, May 28th, 11:15am. Each club member will contribute to a special fund that will then be donated to UMM for UMCOR Advance Specials. Join us for refreshments and greeting the riders.
AN INVITATION FROM THE BISHOP: Bishop Jeremiah Park is inviting every United Methodist to join the 207th Annual Conference at Hofstra University on Sat. 6/10. It will be a time of witnessing to the theme, "We are the Church Together, For Such a Time as This". There will be many talented musicians, as well as choirs with hundreds participating. This is a great opportunity for the confirmation class to experience the Ordination Service. Free lunch will be provided. Call the Church Office if you plan to attend.

GOLF TOURNAMENT: sponsored by the Babylon UMC, Mon. June 26th at the Babylon Village Sumpwams Creek Golf Course. Cost is $80; luncheon only, $30. All proceeds support "Sharing & Caring Soup Kitchen" and Mission & Outreach Committee Ministries. For more info., contact the Church Office.
DIRECTOR OF MUSIC POSITION AVAILABLE: Farmingdale UMC seeks part-time Director of Music. Skilled, creative organist and pianist to direct and accompany a chancel choir, a praise and gospel choir, a youth choir and a bell choir and to play at Sunday worship service and other special services. Organ is a twenty rank Austin. Position could be divided. Salary up to $22K, commensurate with responsibilities. Additional income from weddings and funerals is possible. Position open March 1, 2006.
